Dermal Filler
What are Dermal Fillers?
Smooth gel fillers, called dermal fillers, are crafted from hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance made by the body to maintain skin hydration. In the hands of an experienced injector, dermal filler can revitalize the face by restoring volume.
What to expect at your appointment?
At Awaken Skin and Body, we focus on each client’s unique facial anatomy to achieve optimal results. Our dermal treatments are designed to provide natural results that respect well proportioned features and movement.
After discussing your goals, our expert injectors carefully place filler in the targeted areas to smooth creases, restore volume, and rejuvenate your look. Your treatment provider may use ice or numbing cream to minimize discomfort. You will be provided with thorough post treatment instructions before you leave the office.
After receiving dermal filler treatment, you will notice immediate improvement. Any swelling, redness, or bruising that may occur is temporary and fades quickly. Over the following two weeks, the gel blends with your natural tissue revealing further enhancement.
precare information
Make sure to prepare appropriately for your dermal filler appointment to maximize effectiveness and minimize potential side effects.
Avoid aspirin, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, fish oil and other dietary supplements including: ginkgo, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, and ginseng for 1-2 weeks. These have a blood thinning effect and increase the risk of bruising.
Avoid ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naprosyn sodium (Aleve), and alcohol for 2 days.
Take oral Arnica Montana tablets and bromelain (pineapple enzyme), 5 days prior to injections to minimize the risk of bruising. We have Silagen available which is a capsule containing both arnica and bromelain. Continue taking these supplements for +/-3 days after injections to aid in the healing process.
If possible, come to your appointment with a cleanly washed face.
Stay relaxed. While some anxiety is natural, know that you are in skilled hands and trust the process!
